falling in love of Buenos Aires

Moving to Buenos Aires was an easy decision. When I came to visit my best friend two years ago I knew I would live here some day. I fell in love not just with Buenos Aires but all of Argentina.

I remember my first day. She lived in an apartment in Palermo near the parks. It was summer and the sun was shining. A gorgeous day. I dropped my bags and we hurried to meet some friends at Las Cabanas de las Lilas in Puerto Madero. What a place to taste your first Argentine Steak! It was exhilarating. I was looking at the water, the couple walking on the boardwalk. 10 hours earlier I had been trying to keep warm in my apartment in NYC, barricading under my blankets. Now it was summer again. That is the moment I fell in love with Buenos Aires.

Puerto Madero is by all means not my favorite part of town but I will always remember that first lunch. During my stay I discovered many new neighborhoods. My favorite is of course Palermo Viejo, the neighborhood I now live in.

I had always dreamed of going to Argentina. Now Argentina was not a strange fantasy of mine. I truly enjoyed it.

There is an energy in this city that is unbelievable. People are very creative, especially where I live. Every day I enjoy the opening of new store, gallery or restaurant. It is a city that reminds of NYC but without the stress. I also reminds me of San Francisco because of the low houses and the laid back atmosphere. Maybe that is exactly why I love it here. It has an element of all of my favorite cities in the world: Paris, NYC and San Francisco.
